In engineering assembly, hot melt adhesives are replacing solvent based adhesives and other fastening systems because they are easy to use, inexpensive to apply – they are neither hazardous, toxic nor flammable and so do not require special handling – and are proven in countless applications.

Universal can supply a range of purpose designed equipment – often using common, proven components to maximise reliability and minimise customers’ spares stock – to suit individual manufacturing processes.

For general product assembly applications, the hot melt is likely to be applied either as a jet or spray manually with a hand gun or through an automated system. It can also be:

  Roll applied as a coating
     Adhesive thickness Up to 1.5 mm.
     Machine speeds Up to 40 m/minute.
     Web widths Up to 2.0 m.
     Substrates Felts, plastic foams.

The main ITW Dynatec equipment comprises:
  M Series – hot melt applicators
     Larg, multi-pump units.
     Hopper capacities up to 225 kg.
     Melt rates up to 145 kg/hour, depending upon
         adhesive.
     Melt on demand hopper grid melts adhesive
         uniformly.
     Very fast warm up.
     Independent control of nozzle, hose and hopper
         temperatures.
     Digital controls and platinum sensors
        ensure pinpoint accuracy.
     Computer control option.
     Self-diagnostic system.
     Multi-lingual display.
     Easily removable access covers for easy
        maintenance.
     Conform to CE requirements.
     Seven year hopper warranty.

  S Series – hot melt applicators
     Highly versatile, bench mounted units that shares
         many of the M-Series features.
